Workshop, Saturday, December 18

Morgan Burke is back in town and hosting a workshop at our studio on Saturday, December 18 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. cost is $20 per dancer or $30 for sisters.

I would love for as many B52's to participate in Morgan's workshop as possible. He has wonderful style and that is one area that we need alot of work. Please try to participate if at all possible.

Pre-register and pay at the front desk as soon as possbile. We will not host the workshop if there is not enough participation. Thanks!

Small Group Teams

Please do not forget that when you decided to try out for small group teams at Legacy, you committed to working hard and being dedicated to dance. I think I have been very very fair in allowing many absences that are not school related, but when less than half the team shows up for a small group rehearsal I feel that I am required to put rules in place. It is crunch time for us right now. If it snows out one or more rehearsals in January or February, there will be no way that we will be ready for NexStar regionals the first weekend in March much less the one we are thinking of doing in February. Also, there were only 2(two) students that attended Lindsey's Wednesday 8:30 pm ballet class this past week. Some of you are not attending any ballet classes and that will no longer be tolerated to continue to be on the Legacy Small Group Teams. It's going to be tough competing locally much less at the nationals that we are planning on attending if you are not going to commit to one or two ballet classes a week. I know it is a tough time of year at school but let's try to work hard and show up for all the rehearsals that we have planned so that we can move on to our line dance.

You will be allowed 2 excused absences between now and February. No unexcused absences unless they have already been pre-arranged will be allowed. If you need a ride to the holiday practices, ask a friend for a ride. Not having a ride will be unexcused.

If you plan on participating in the Phantoms/B52 line dance, same rule will apply. We will have to choreograph this one quickly and it's hard to choreograph when people are missing.

Also, you are forgetting that your hair must be pulled back from your face. Do not wear your hair down to class. Make sure you are following attire rules as well. No baggy clothes at all please.

I hope you all understand my concerns.

Small Group Rehearsals Added

13,14,15 year old small group rehearsal added to the holiday schedule. Sunday, January 2 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.

16 and over small group rehearsals added to the holiday schedule. December 31 from 2:30 - 4:30 pm and on January 2 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

Get ready for long rehearsals after the holidays. We also will be starting our line dance soon with the Phantoms and B52s. Keep your schedules as open as possbile on the weekends.

Lindsey's Ballet Classes for December

Lindsey is performing in the NutCracker at TPAC the month of December. She needs to change her ballet schedule a bit.

Monday, November 29 and Wednesday, December 1 - schedule will remain as normal

Lindsey's Monday and Wednesday ballet classes will be cancelled the remainder of December.

Ballet is mandatory for competition teams. Please try to attend these classes.

Live Fabric Update

Shawn found the grey fabric in Atlanta for Live! Bring your bras and we will start working on this costume. We also have the black elastic and the black beaded lace for the neck.

Rehearsal Dates and Information

If you are 16 years old before December 1, 2010, you will be on the 16 and over Small Group. Your rehearsal days will be on Saturdays. We will NOT be starting on Saturday, October 9 because we are hoping that as many of you that can attend Morgan's 2nd workshop on this date. We will begin small group on Saturday, October 16. You will no longer rehearse on Thursdays starting in October.

WorkShop Opportunity

A wonderful dancer and friend Morgan Burke will be in town this Saturday, October 1 (times to be decided) and has asked if we would be interested in taking a work shop from him. Morgan has been in LA working with Cirque du Soleil, performing on the VMAs, assisting Erica Sobol across the country, as well choreographing for 'Single Ladies'. In December Morgan will be beginning a seven month tour with the contemporary dance company 'Bad Boys of Dance under the direction of Rasta Thomas.

Legacy Company Picnic - Sunday, September 26

Our picnic is set for Sunday at the studio (behind the building), park in front. The picnic sill begin at 1:00 pm. Please bring tables, chairs and your own drinks. We will put the food inside.
We decided to attempt to assign dishes so that everyone doesn't bring the same thing.

Upcoming Costume Expenses

We would like to start shopping for fabrics for costumes next month. We will be adding $40 to each statement next month to cover some initial costs for costumes. We will continue to try to budget bill the costumes so that you will not be hit with an overwhelming monthly statement. Thanks for all that you do to support the studio and your children!

Monday Ballet Technique Time Change

We are bumping the Monday Ballet Technique in Studio B to begin at 8 o'clock instead of 8:30 pm on Monday's Only. We originally scheduled it for 8:30 pm incase any of the Spitfires wanted to attend this class but they are all coming to the early technique class. Thanks!

Information - Picnic, Pictures, Nationals Voting

Let's plan on holding our Legacy Dance Company Picnic on Sunday, September 26 at 1:00 pm at the studio. Bring your lawn chairs, tents, tables and a side dish. Legacy will provide the chicken! We will be drawing for big sisters/little sisters and brothers on this day. We are going to try to get the photographer to come to the studio on the 26th for group pictures, but have not scheduled this yet. We will let you know for sure by the end of this week about pictures.

Wednesday 6:30 Pilates Information

The Wednesday 6:30 pm Pilates class was designed for the B52's to use as a conditioning and stretching tool before the Wednesday night class. Pilates will help stregthen and stretch your muscles needed for dance. There is no charge for this class and will be discontinued after next week if not taken advantage of. Thanks!

Construction Delays - Updates

The overhead inspection didn't pass yesterday due to a problem with the sprinkler system, so we are delayed a bit in our early team practices. We will create a new team workout schedule as soon as we know we are safe to lay down the dance floors. Elite Update for the B52's

After more thought, I have decided to have 2 small groups for 13 and over Elite. We will discuss more later. All Elite members will perform in a small group. We will no longer consider the alternate idea. Sorry, it's been crazy and my phone has been ringing non-stop since Sunday I haven't had the chance to look at everything in detail yet. The alternate was an idea that we tossed around while calculating the scores and wasn't thought through. While it may work for some studios, it is not a good idea for our studio. It's so hard to divide this team and leave any member out at all. All B52's always work so hard and is very deserving. It's been tough making these decisions for the Elite teams. We will figure out a way to have 2 small groups and support each other.
