IMPORTANT-PLEASE READ

Thanks for coming to the dress rehearsal and helping us stay on time. I am a little worried about everyone being on the same page with tights, shoes, hair and accessories. This was to be a full dress rehearsal and we had many that did not have their snaps on their shorts to their skirts, no tights when needed, no shoes, hair falling every which way. The point of dress rehearsal is to make sure there are no costume malfunctions and also to make sure we all look the exact same and I am not sure that was accomplished. So below is a check list for each dance. Please make sure you check this list when packing for this competition. YOU WILL NOT GO ON STAGE IF YOU ARE MISSING PIECES OF YOUR COSTUME OR IF YOUR COSTUME IS NOT FINISHED

Please remember you are to arrive 2 hours early as ready as possible for your first dance. Please do not come in without makeup or hair done and spend the entire 2 hours getting ready. Space is limited at this venue for dressing and makeup and they could possibly be running 2 hours early. So it would be in everyone's be interest to come as ready as possible. We will try and rehearse each dance before going back stage....this practice time will only be for students and teachers. Parents, family and friends will be asked to finish any pictures and socializing before we break away for this practice, so the dancers can fully focus before heading backstage. Parents, please make sure you fully secure all hair pieces and hairstyles with tons and tons of pins and spray/gel. Judges will count off for hair falling out or any piece of the costume falling off. We need to make sure we safety pin any part of the costume that could possibly come unsnapped or fall off. Please bring tons of body tape...the good kind is from Performance Studios on Thompson Lane. Please make sure there are no holes or rips in your tights. Its always a good idea to bring a back up pair of each kind you wear. We WILL be wearing donuts with any kind of bun. This will need to be secured with a hair net also. I understand many of you are opposed to wearing the donut, but there is a good reason for it, or we wouldnt go through the trouble of wearing it. Eyelashes are MANDANTORY for all female dancers. NO exceptions for this.

Help Loading the Truck on Friday at 5:30 pm and Help Neede on Sunday

Anyone who would like to help load the truck with props on Friday at 5:30 pm at the studio, we would appreciate it. We only need about 3 more people to help Andy, Dad and Mike. Also, we will need at least 6 Dads to help move the boat on to the stage on Sunday. The dance is at 3:00 pm on Sunday. Thanks again!

Notes for Wednesday!

Please help us on Wednesday by picking up trash and putting it in the trash can. We will have the big trash can set up, please use it. It's really sad on Saturdays when we have to spend 30 minutes after rehearsals throwing about trash left all over the building. Please help us try to keep the building nice.

Again, label all your costumes. It's going to be crowded but let's enjoy our time together! It's going to be a great weekend! Love you all!

BUSY WEEK!

It's finally here! So thrilled about our first competition! Please see the competition schedule in the post from last week below. Remember to arrive 2 hours before your time on the schedule or when the doors open if 2 hours puts you there before 7:00 am.

Thanks to everyone for their hard work. Parents thanks to you all for all your hard work on costuming and props!

Our dress rehearsal is this Wednesday. Please come as ready as possible. Please label all your costumes and make sure everything gets back into your bag. IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE A CHECK LIST. We do not have any extra costumes, so if you loose it you will not be able to be in the dance.

Please make sure that you wear tights with NO holes if you are wearing tights. All head pieces should be secured in with zip ties. It is mandatory for ALL girls to wear eyelashes.

We will also be stoning BY YOUR SIDE just a bit. So please bring your glue and be ready to wrap all this up on Saturday.

Please purchase snaps for the following costumes: (We use te quarter size snaps to snap the skirts to shorts)

1. Pirates - snap skirt to shorts
2. Rumors - snap skirt to short and snap shirt to inside of shorts (purchase smaller snaps to snap the shirt to the inside of shorts)
3. Earth - Purchase snaps to connect the sequin piece to the skirt. I would think these would be smaller snaps.

WCDE Comp Info

Our Duo, Eli and Bella, and our trio, Hayden, Cassie, Reagan will perform on Friday night. The competition begins at 7:30 pm at the host hotel. Eli and Bella are 9th from the start of the competition and Hayden, Cassie, Reagan are 16th to perform. The competition ends at 10:00 pm on Friday night.

Make me the parent, O Lord, who will show my children the strength to face weakness; the courage to face fear; the grace to accept honest defeat; and the humility and gentleness to accept victory.

Make me the parent who will show my children not a path of ease and comfort, but the ability to accept the challenges of stress and difficulty. Use me, I pray, to be the example of one who can stand up in the storm, and there learn compassion for those who fail.

Make me the parent who will teach his children the value of a clear heart and a high goal; to look in the mirror of their own faults before they find fault in others; to learn to laugh, yet never forget how to cry; to reach into the future without ever forgetting the past.

Make me the parent, O Lord, who will show my children enough of a sense of humor, so that they will always be serious, but never take themselves too seriously. Give them humility, so they will always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength.

And after all these things are theirs, add for me, I pray, the wisdom to show them the dubious value of titles, positions, money, and material gain; and the eternal value of prayer, the Holy Bible, a Christian home, and a saving relationship with Your Son Jesus Christ.

West Coast Dance Explosion Info

West Coast Dance Explosion will be sending us a detailed schedule on Wednesday, February 15, but for now we do have a timeline to base your Saturday and Sunday.

Arrive at the convention Hotel, on Saturday, Feb. 18 if you are not already staying there be 7:15 and 7:30 to pick up your registration armband for the students and the parents that have paid to attend.

Classes will begin on Saturday, Feb. 18 morning at 8:00 am in the ballrooms at the hotel. Classes will go until 2:15 on Saturday. You will work with different teachers and learn choreography from each teacher.

The competition will begin at 3:30 pm. We will have our trio, Cassie, Hayden and Regan and our duet of Bella and Eli competing in the competition. The competition will be really really good, so it will be beneficial for every to come watch and to support our dancers competing.

Sunday, Feb. 19 classes begin again at 8:00 am until 2:15 pm. Auditions will be included during this time. The faculty show begins at 2:30 followed by scholarships and awards. All should wrap up around 3:45 pm.

Girls, please wear appropriate dancewear with your hair up. Look and act like dancers at all times. No clowing around in the workshop and definitely no talking or they will definitely embarass you. They expect everyone to act like professional dancers who are ready and willing to learn at all times.

Boys, you can wear t-shirt and shorts.

Bring your dance shoes with you. They also offer tap, so please bring your tappers with you if you want to attend the tap workshop.

We will have a meeting to discuss more info on what to expect if needed.
