Happy Holidays to Everyone! We hope you are all enjoying your break.

Please try to catch up on all outstanding balances. The $15 late charge will be added to the January statements for all outstanding balances. Sorry to have to mandate this but we have to get our receivables under control asap. We can no longer finance anyones costumes, comp fees or monthly tuition. We have been burnt too many times lately and can not afford to continue running our business in this manner. So please catch up to be current as soon as possible to avoid the monthly late fee. Thanks in advance for understanding this and thanks to those of you who always stay current on your balance. We truly appreciate this.

Also, the January statements will have the March 2 NexStar Competition Fees. If we waited to put the fees on the February statement, then we would not meet the deadline. Solos will be $85, title will be $30, group dances will be $35 per student per dance and $95 for duo/trios split between 2 or 3.

WCDE in February competition does not have soloists competing their solos. Soloists compete for scholarships during the auditions on that Sunday. You will audition with the dance you learn at the workshop and not your choreographed solo. Duets and Trios will be competing at WCDE. The cost is $49 per dancer. Since we do have any other full groups attending, we will only compete The Promise and Prettiest Girls. This fee will be added to your January statements. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday! Below is the schedule for Saturday, December 3. Let's all work hard the next few weeks to use our technique in class and always remember and rehearse what you learned the week before. Don't forget that there will be cuts before each competition and if you don't know your dance this year, you will not be able to dance in the competition until you know it.
Also, please remember to wear appropriate dance wear to class and your hair should always be in a ponytail or bun. Do not wear your hair down to class please.

She also coaches Brentwood High School's dance team and she asked me to attend State competition with them on Saturday morning at MTSU. Time Change for Saturday, Nov 5 Rehearsal

Let's extend our production line hours on Saturday, November 5. We just don't get much done in 1 hour. So let's have our production line, Groups 1 and 2 on Saturday, November 5th from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm. We will cancel the B52 extra group until we receive a music mix back. We will have the senior small group on Saturday, November 5th from 3:30 - 4:30 as originally planned.

Some Updates

Nolensville is having a Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, Nov. 5th at 11:00 am. Please make sure you leave in time to reach the studio for your rehearsal time.

I have a very very large outstanding receivables balance due to costumes and outstanding nationals balances from last summer. Please help me try to reduce this balance as soon as possible. I don't mind paying up front for your costumes but many of you haven't paid me all year and your balances are getting out of hand. From now on if you have a large balance, you will have to pre-pay before I can order your costume on an individual basis. I just cannot operate my business with this much outstanding. Also, if you have not paid all year, please decide immediately if you should be dancing this year. We are going into our 4th month now with no payment received from some of you. I don't mind helping out sometimes but this is not cool.

Contracts and Reminders

We will have the Company contracts ready to sign in the next few days. Sorry for the delay.

Reminders, please rehearse your dances that you are learning on a weekly basis. We can move on so much quicker with choreography if you know the choreography that we learned the week before. Also, rule number 7 in your contracts is that you must know every detail to a dance to be able to compete it this year. This rule will be strictly enforced. It is so much easier to work on small parts every week and build rather than waiting until the entire dance is choreographed to decide it's time to learn your dance. We love you all very very much but feel that it is important and only fair to the dancers who use their proper technique and work and know their dances. Please understand the importance and try to understand why this rule is important. Parents, please feel free to video the choreography at the end of class times so that your student can rehearse during the week. Again, we love you all and this is not personal but feel that it should be the desire of everyone involved to do the best possible due to the money and time involved in competitive dance.

Fall Festival Week October 24 - October 28

Don't forget to wear your fall festival costumes next week! BEWARE...We will have the haunted house and the hayride! Looking forward to all the fun!

REMINDER:
Tap, Ballet and Tumbling will be cancelled (ALL STUDIO B ACTIVITIES) October 24th thru October 28th due to the haunted house!

We will be working really hard from this point forward to prepare our competition dances. Please work on using your proper technique and really stretching through your feet and keeping straight knees. Stretch as much as you can while watching television. Keep working hard! We have some really cool props and great costumes on the way!

Saturday, October 15 Rehearsals Cancelled

Let's cancel Saturday, October 15 rehearsals. Shawn is doing better this morning but she may need a couple of more days to be back to dance speed. Also I know we have several on fall break. Shawn will be in touch with some of the soloists this weekend to schedule solo rehearsals during the day time hours next week. Thanks to you all for being so understanding about her sickness for the last couple of days. Thanks for all the prayers and concerns. I am sure she will be back full speed on Monday.

Small Group / Extra Group

We would like to try something new this year. We have so many talented students that are interested in small group that we would like to invite all B52 large group students that are interested in performing an extra dance, committing to coming on Saturdays and committing to coming to ballet on Mondays and Wednesday to email us and let us know. This will be referred to as the "B52 Extra Group". Anyone that is on the B52 Large group can participate as long as you understand your commitments. The price will be $95 per month instead of $80 per month that you pay now for the large group. We are hoping this will work for everyone interested in committing the extra time and wanting to learn as much as you can. We are extremely blessed to have so many talented students in this company this year and it is unbelievably difficult to try to select small groups so we are hoping this works for everyone interested. It may turn out to be a small group depending on the number of students really interested in this opportunity. ANOTHER PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY - VIDEO

Buddy Jewell has called and invited the B52s to perform in his new upcoming video. I need to know asap who can attend the rehearsal and the shoot. Rehearsal will be on Tuesday, September 20 at 8:30 pm - until (?)(not too late) at the studio and on Wednesday, September 21 during your normal rehearsal time 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. You guys can get together on Thursday, September 22 to rehearse at the studio but I have to head to Maci's wedding on that evening so I won't be back until we meet for the video shoot on Sunday, September 25. More details about the shoot to come(All I know is that it is at a church). This is a wonderful opportunity and I hope many of you will want to take advantage of this. A friend that works with the United Way of Williamson County has invited the B52s to perform at Cool Springs Mall at 6:45 pm on Tuesday, September 20 for the United Way 50th year celebration. WCDE Room Reservations

We have received several emails of dancers interested in attending the WCDE Convention in February. Please go ahead and reserve your rooms by calling 1-888-421-1442. There are still rooms available under the West Coast Dance Explosion block. They do sell out so if you are serious about going, I would suggest you call to reserve your rooms as soon as possible.

WEST COAST DANCE EXPLOSION

We are planning on attending West Coast Dance Explosion February 18 - February 19. THIS IS NOT MANDATORY. This is a wonderful workshop and great experience for the serious dancer. The cost is $200 per student. The workshop and competition is held at the Hyatt Regency Greenville, SC. It's convenient to stay at this hotel. The rates are $123 per night. We would need to leave on Friday after school/work and the workshop begins early Saturday morning. There is a competition. We will would love to take groups, duo/trios or solos that are all planning on going to the competition. The competition is on Saturday night. The workshop continues on Sunday morning and then there are auditions for Miss West Coast and scholarships awarded. All ages are welcome. Please email us immediately if you are interested in attending the workshop. We have to send in the money and make our reservataions ASAP. The workshop fills up very quickly. Thanks!

The costuming company has dropped the sizing samples in the mail and they should be to us before Monday. We need to have everyone sized on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24. PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY

Congratulations to all new Legacy Company members! We are soooo excited about the upcoming dance year! We want to accomplish so much in the next few months so we will go ahead and get started on our training. Below is a schedule for the week of August 8th.

These classes will be inclusive with your August billing. We will give your your August statements. This statement will include the August classes, $125 competitive deposit and $100 costume payment. All due as soon as possible. B52's Large Group and 1 small group will need to pay the costume deposit asap because we are working on these costumes starting today. All others can pay their $100 costume deposit by the end of August.

Please understand that we need all fees in as soon as possbile. We can no longer front costume expenses or competition fees.

Large Group Costume and Specialty Class Schedule

We are very excited that our new costume company is going to be doing a couple of costumes for us. One is going to be for the B52 Large Group. They are able to work with us on this costume but we have to work fast. They do require $100 deposit down on each costume before they will work with us. Please pay this fee as soon as the teams are selected because we need to get this money to them immediately. They do a great job and we are so excited that they are going to be able to fit us in for a couple of costumes. Also $125 team deposit is due before August 15th. Sorry to hit you up so soon on costuming but this is a wonderful opportunity to get our foot in the door with this company.

We want to use the week of August 8th to work on our turning and ballet technique. Miss Alex will be teaching the ballet technique classes for all age groups and Shawn will be teaching the turning classes. These classes are open only the company students. We will publish the schedule soon.

More Tryout Information

Hope everyone is enjoying their week off! Mel and Alex will be flying in on Sunday and they are very exciting about the workshop. Please give them your full attention at ALL times! They are very very well trained dancers and you can learn so much from them. Mel and Alex both trained at Larkin Dance Studio in Minnesota and I have so much respect for their dance teachers and studio. They are one of the best studios in the country.

We will be split up by age groups. If you are trying out for the B52's, you will be in the Seniors group. If you are trying out for the Phantoms, you will be in the Teen group. If you are trying out for the SpitFires, you will be in the Junior Group. If you are trying out for the ThunderBoltz and BombShels, you will be in the mini group.


Alex and Mel will be judging you for placement. Always perform and do your best. Please wear dance attire. No big t-shirts please. You can wear loose clothes for the hip hop classes. Bring ballet shoes for ballet and tap shoes for tap if you are in mini-Extreme.

Please bring drinks and food. We will take a 30 minute break to eat. No one will have enough time to leave and run to Sonic, so please bring your lunch and snacks with you. We will have some light snacks and waters for you.

The studio will be open on Thursday and Friday for open rehearsals from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm on Thursday night and Friday during the day. I will post Friday hours later on.

Solos, duo/trios and small groups will be created throughout the year in 2011 - 2012. Students who come to ballet technique and apply their technique correctly in the choreography will be chosen for these spots. We are looking for everyone to perform and really concentrate on your technique this year. We have got to start turning and stretching our feet. We are very excited about the new year!

There will be some specialty classes the week of August 8th for teams only. Watch your blogs for these classes and times.

Registration, EXTREME and Tryout Info

Spoke with Mel (Melissa) and Alex yesterday and they are both so excited to help teach our EXTREME Workshop on Monday, July 25 - Wednesday July 27th . Please try to arrive 30 minutes early on Monday to register and receive your workshop bracelet. Please wear your bracelet all week.

ALL payments are due on Monday at registration. We will not be able to bill for the EXTREME workshops. EXTREME Workshop is $120 and the Mini-EXTREME is $40. You will not be able to participate if you do not pay. Thanks for understanding this. No exceptions will be made. Also, please pay any outstanding balances ASAP.

Open House and Registration is on Saturday, July 23 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Please register before tryouts.

You will be given a number to wear at the EXTREME Workshop if you are trying out for team. Please wear your number all week so that Mel and Alex can help evaluate your potential for placement. A large portion of your scores will consist of their evaluations.

Please wear dancewear at the Workshop. You can wear hip hop clothes for the hip hop classes only.

Master Class Info

The classes will be taught by two different choreographers. Wednesday will be Kim McVicar who will be teaching a Funk/Hip Hop class, and Thursday will be Mark Burrell who teaches a Musical Theater/Jazz Class. Any dance attire is acceptable. Parents are more than welcome to stay and watch. All you need to do is come at the assigned time for your daughters age group. (the first hour is 11 & under, second hour is 12 & over).

Great rehearsals last night! Please Perform with alot of energy and emotion on every dance and really really stretch your feet on everything you do, no bended knees. I know you are so tired of hearing it but you really can do well at nationals if you will apply these few corrections. There must be lots of emotion and proper technique. 2011 - 2012 Legacy Company tryouts will consist of scores from the EXTREME Workshop and Saturday, July 30th tryouts. If you are not planning on attending the EXTREME Workshop or the July 30th tryouts due to uncontrollable circumstances, please contact Shawn this week to schedule a pre-tryout with Shawn and guest judges. We will let you know what the tryout fees will be. Please understand that you will have to pay more than the $12 tryout fee because the judges fees will still apply and the fees cannot be divided by 60 other people. If you are not able to meet with Shawn this week and not able to come to the EXTREME Workshop or attend the July 30th tryouts, we will NOT be able to put you on the teams listed when posted on July 31st. Shawn will be out of town the week after Nationals and will not return back to town until Sunday night before the EXTREME Workshop. We will be glad to work with our students interested in team but please understand that we cannot post you on a team until you tryout for that team. NO ONE WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY PUT ON A TEAM WITHOUT ATTENDING A PRIVATE OR GROUP TRYOUT.

Nationals Information

Sorry if this sounds like demanding but....

Please please do not wear tights with runs and huge holes in them. We have a few tights left over in the office if you need a new pair please get them. It does make a difference!

We do not need hats falling off or going over the eyes to block the students view. Please purchase the zip ties to hold on all hair pieces and barretts. There were too many accessories flying through the air at recital. Please take the time to make sure this does not happen at Nationals.

Please do not wear bright colored bunched up undies under your costumes. If you are not wearing tights, then cut off an old pair to wear under your booty shorts. If you are wearing tights, this should be good enough.

EVERYONE is to wear eyelashes, no exceptions!

Please make sure you have enough makeup applied.

Make a checklist and start packing your bags. Check it again when you arrive at Myrtle Beach.

We want to look great and dance great and have a great time!!!!!! So excited!!!

More Information About Nationals....

Below is an email from NexStar with more information regarding Nationals Week. I encourage you to attend the master classes but they are not mandatory.


BIG SHOW:
Many of you have questions regarding the Big Show. The time has been changed to a 9:00 start time.

The final day of our competition consists of our Big Show. You will receive a schedule for this during the week; it starts at 9:00AM and generally we have everyone out by 3PM.

Throughout the week of Championships, High Scoring Routines will be invited to perform and re-compete on the final day of competition at "The Big Show". Invitations will be given to the following:

NEXSTAR Performance Level- The 3 highest scoring routines from the Small Group, Large Group and Line Divisions from each age group will be invited. Studios will be limited to 1 entry from each age group within each division. Trophies will be awarded to each division/age category for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

NEWSTAR/PRESTAR Performance Level- The highest scoring NewStar Group from each age division and the highest scoring PreStar Group from each age division will be invited to perform. More invitations will be given if the number of entries warrants this.

MASTER CLASSES:
Our Master classes are absolutely FREE! They are NOT mandatory; encourage to go and learn and have fun doing it!!

Kim McVicar has been in several television shows and theater productions as a lead dancer, including MTV Video Music Awards. Her specialty is funk/hip hop. She has also choreographed pop videos with many live concerts and commercials.

Mark Burrell has appeared in numerous theatrical productions, and has extensive choreography experience with pieces including the Rockettes. He helps in training soap stars for "Dancing with the Stars" as well as continuing to remain on as faculty instructor and choreographer at Juilliard School, where he received his degree. His specialty is musical theatre and jazz.

Nationals Information

Just spoke with NexStar and they have confirmed that there are over 1,000 dances already registered for the Myrtle Beach competition. We had to go ahead and pay the entry fees yesterday so that we all didn't have to pay the late charges of 10%. We still have quiet a few that haven't paid yet. Please get those fees paid up as soon as possible.

Requirements

Please at least attend Wednesday leaps and turns, your Wednesday rehearsal and your required ballet class. The other classes are optional but are included in your June tuition. Again, nationals is going to be tough, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not slack these next few weeks.

Thank you all so much for the beautiful rug! It is perfect and exactly what we needed for the front door. It looks great! Thanks for all the flowers and gift certificates and numerous other gifts. You all are always so generous!

We have received many many compliments on the show that I want to pass along to you. YOU ARE THE SHOW! It doesn't matter what kind of props that we use or how many lights are flashing, it's the dancers and their emotions that create the moment. Always smile and perform no matter whether you are on stage, in the school gymnasium or in the studio, someone is always watching you.

A couple of Items

1. Please check your makeup bags for the pink and brown makeup bag with mac eye shadows and the o lipstick. These items are missing from the Ervins' makeup. The lipstick is separate from the eye shadows. They are marked with silver writing on them. Please check your bags and let us know if you picked them up accidentally.

2. Pointe dance - Please pay Lindsey $5 cash each for the supplies she has purchased for your costumes. Please pay her when you pick up your costumes from her. Please don't forget your money. This adds up to be too much money for Lindsey to have to cover. Thanks so much!

Due to circumstances beyond TPAC's control, the typical stage
door entrance to Tennessee Performing Arts Center on
Union Avenue will be closed during dance show season this
year.

The alternative stage door entrance to be used by all dancers
will be on 5th avenue between the loading dock to your left
and the entrance to the Tennessee State Museum to your
right. Please note that 5th avenue is a one way street heading
north. Please adjust your driving/drop-off patterns
accordingly, and be sure to observe all traffic laws. There are
a good number of stairs leading down from the street to the
glass doors of this entrance. Specific needs for our disabled
patrons will be made on a case by case basis.

There will be plenty of signs inside the building once you
have used the temporary stage door entrance. These signs will
lead you and your dancers to the dressing room area of your
respective hall. The enclosed map will help to display these
instructions as they pertain to your event.

We’re terribly sorry for this change, and we thank you in
advance for your cooperation.

Small Group Rehearsals

Just to clarify, we will have rehearsals on Wednesday, May 18th. We will have food to honor our graduating Class of 2011, but we have to practice as well on Wednesday at regular times. We have to learn finale. It is a very important practice. Please do not miss this rehearsal.

Thursday Practice

Prop Help

If anyone's Dad is not busy on Saturday, Ken and Jane could use some prop help taking the props from the studio to Nolensville and while at the rehearsal and getting them back to the studio. Thanks!

Support Unit

We won't have much time to discuss this before Saturday due to pictures soooo.....
I know you guys all heard this speach last year. You are the senior company, EVERYONE looks to you for "how to act", "what to wear", everything is reflected from you guys. Please dance with emotion and proper technique during these rehearsals. You are being watched from the little 3 year olds all the way up to their parents and grandparents. You are Legacy Dance. This is your chance to perform without being scored, don't hold back. The other students learn from you.
ALSO, please be supportive of all the other dances. Please clap and tell other dancers how good they did. The non-company classes only dance 1 hour per week. They have learned 3 dances in less than 16 hours. That's very impressive.

Please help us set the bar high for Legacy Dance Studio. You guys lead the way and I expect you to lead us with pride, enthusiasm and support for your studio.

Please wear your black dancewear to Nolensville on Saturday with your hair back in a bun or ponytail. Give it your all when you are dancing. Show everyone how hard you have worked! I am so proud of you all! I am blessed to have you as our leaders.

Class of 2011 Celebration!

Quick Changes

There are a few quick changes in the recital and there aren't enough quick change dressing rooms for everyone to share. Does anyone have a folding "screen" that we could borrow to build a temporary quick change area behind stage?

Helpful Hints

We received an email that was sent to all studios that participate in the ShowStoppers Competitions. We thought it would be helpful to pass this along to the students:

Tricks of Champions
1. Unless you have a major costume malfunction a la Janet Jackson in the Super Bowl, Keep Going!

2. Save the lip synching for driving in the car.

3. Staring matches with the judges don't earn you extra
points. A quick glance won't hurt but keep your focus on the audience, not the panel scoring you.

4. Be happy! Your personality counts for more than you think.

5. Participate in every part of the competition, classes, awards....live in the moment. The team that plays together stays together and it shows on stage!

Good News from NexStar Nationals! We do not have to pay the regional qualification money to enter our new dances! This will be helpful to everyone! We do have to have the national entry fees in to the Studio by June 1. NexStar has to receive our money and packet BEFORE 6/11/2011. We will not be able to cover your nationals competition fees for you. Please help us out with this.

Sorry for the long hours coming up this week. I feel we need to finish the lyrical choreography as soon as possible because we don't have alot of time before recital and I really want this dance looking good at recital. We will have dance the Saturday before Easter to prepare for competition. We have competition the Saturday, April 30. I will be out of town on Saturday, May 7. And we have recital rehearsals planned for Saturday, May 14, so we don't have much time left to finish up all of our stuff. Sorry for the long hours and I hope you understand. thanks!

Summer Schedules Posted

The June summer schedule is posted on the website along with the July tryout prep workshop and the 2011-2012 tryout date.

Since our nationals is not until July, we will be dancing in June and the first week of July. We will take the week off after recital to rest. The company students will be billed your regular monthly rate in June and that will also cover the first week of July. For example, if you are in small group, you will pay the $90 and this will cover the unlimited classes for the 5 weeks of the June/July classes, all others will pay the $75 regular monthly rate. This includes your rehearsal times and unlimited classes for your age group at no extra cost. Solos, duo/trio and small group rehearsals are not on the June schedule yet.

We have also scheduled the July Summer Extreme Workshop. This workshop is open to all Legacy students and students outside of Legacy Dance. We will be bringing in guest teachers to teach along with our normal staff. The workshop will be July 25 thru July 29. We will also use this workshop as a tryout prep workshop and follow up with the 2011-2012 Company Tryouts on Saturday, July 30.

What to expect for the 2011-2012 Competition Season? We have all worked very very hard this year and have accomplished much. We are so proud of each of you! Thank you for your committments and hours and hours of rehearsals.

We like to keep offering options for all of our dancers. We know some of you want to dance as much as possible to prepare to dance at the college level while others only want to compete at more of the recreational level. For the 2011-2012 year, we will be offering different levels of participation. We will provide more details later.

Special Thank You

A very special thank you to our Moms and Dads! Prop Dads, thank you so very much for helping with the props! And Moms, 2 costume awards 2 weeks in a row! You have spent so much time making these beautiful costumes. Thanks to you all!

Getting There

Well things do not always go our way. I know it has been tough on everyone attending back to back competitions. Thanks for hanging in there! We will start our new lyrical dance this week. Please try to attend as many ballet technique classes as possible. Technique will help us maintain the platinum awards. Again, Nationals is going to be really tough this year so let's really try hard to work on technique since you are all finished with basketball season now. Attending more than 1 day per week will help strengthen and tone your body. I know you do not like to attend multiple nights per week but to advance to the next level you really need the ballet more than 1 night per week to stretch and lengthen your muscles.

REMINDER: The studio will be closed for spring break March 21 - March 25. We will start back on March 26 with the new hip hop dance.

Birmingham Competition for B52s and Phantoms

The Birmingham competition registration deadline is March 15. Solos are $85, Duo/Trios are $95, groups are $35 per student. Please be ready to pay this on Wednesday March 16 or before if possible. PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND THIS COMPETITION. This is for the Phantoms and B52s only. Our younger solos and duo/trio are welcome to participate but you (3 younger teams) will be competing the next weekend at TPAC. Thanks!

Competition Dates

We would like to take the B52s and Phantoms to Birmingham April9 and April 10 if it's not too late to enter the competition. We would not do the StarSystems competition which is April 15 weekend since many of you have prom that weekend. We would take the younger groups to the April 15 competition and not take them to Birmingham. Please let us know asap if it would be a problem for you to attend the April 9 and April 10 competition in Birmingham. Soloists, Duos and Trios let us know if you would want to compete at the April 15 competition here in Nashville. We will not be taking our B52 and Phantom group dances to the April 15 weekend competition if we go to Birmingham on the April 9th weekend. Thanks!

Accomplishments!

Do you realize how much you have accomplished in less than our 2 years together? Second highest jazz routine out of the entire competition, Two platinums and a high gold in our first weekend is very good and we still have alot of improvements to make. We competed against studios that have been in business for many more years and dance many many many more hours than the majority of you and we hung with them. Thanks to the few of you who do make the effort to attend all ballet technique classes that are available to you.

I feel that I have been very understanding and lenient on your attendance to ballet technique but now I must enforce the 2 ballet classes per week to all the small group members since you did agree to this when you tried out for the small groups. Lindsey has been telling me that her attendance has been very very low. I know you are all tired and have studying to do, so please let me know if the small groups are not going to work with your schedules any longer. I know basketball is over for most of you now, please take the time to come to as many ballet techniques as possible. It will be mandatory from this day forward for all small group members.

You are all such a blessing to us. We are so excited for you all this weekend. Enjoy this time with your daughter and sons. When they are 25 years old, they won't remember if they won or lost dance competitions but they will remember all the love and good times you had spending this time together and how hard their parents have worked to create their costumes. You are making a difference in the lives. Parents, thanks to you all for all your support to Legacy Dance Studio and to your children. You are a wonderful group and we are truly blessed. Request for Prop Crews

Live and let Die and Sweet Child both have props that we will need to carry on to the stage within a 2 minute time period or we will be penalized. This weekend we have Kenny and Andy that can help but we will need 4 more Dads for Sweet Child and at least 3 more Dads for Live and Let Die. These dances perform at 9 am and 10:20 am on Sunday morning. Please let us know if you can help. Thanks so very much!

ALL B52's and Phantoms please bring your dresses back on Wednesday for more alterations. Also, please make sure you have 4 big snaps . We are going to pull the top over a bit and snap it to fit snugger around the shoulder. Thanks!

Wow!

Everyone has worked so hard and it really showed last night! I am so proud of each and everyone of you! I am so blessed to work with such wonderful families!

Just a couple of things. We can't use enough hairpins. The crystal haircombs are heavy so make sure they are really secured.

If you are wearing a hairpiece, you have to really really use the pins. We do not need hair falling onto the stage.

If you are wearing a hat, use several barretts to clip the hat to your hair. Please do not think 1 bobby pin is going to hold the hat on.

Body tape works wonders for anything you do not feel comfortable in. Please use it.

UnMasked, Please bring your costumes on Saturday to adjust the length of the hem and the sleeves.

The NexStar schedule is posted. Please know when you dance and arrive ready 2 hours before your compete times. This will be a tough competition. Let's all work hard this week on putting alot, alot, alot of attitude in your dances.

Tights will not be in until Thursday or Friday. You are welcome to wear an old pair of fishnets for dress rehearsal.

The line dresses will be delivered on Tuesday evening. You are welcome to stop in and pick them up after 5:00 pm.

Hair, Makeup and Stuff

Your line dance costumes will be delivered to the studio on Tuesday, Feb. 22. You are welcome to come by the studio after 5:00 pm on Tuesday to get your costume or you can wait until dress rehearsal to receive it.

Everyone MUST wear Eyelashes and makeup. You do not have to purchse the Chanel brand but try to get as close as you can with the MAC brand.

Hair for UnMasked, Live and Indestructable

Pull top of hair straight back with a poof at the top of your head. Low side bun (needs to be low enough to not interfere with your mask. If you don't have enough hair to make a nice bun, please go buy the cheater buns. You need to purchase hair nets to keep your bun in place. Use plenty of hair pins.

Small Group senior duo and senior trio - We will discuss hair this weekend.

Competition season is here and you have all worked so hard. It amazes me to see how much you have accomplished in our 18 months together. In 18 months, we have grown to love each and every one of you and it always inspires me to know that most of you have been dancing together before you started school. We want to carry on Mrs. Cathy's Legacy of dance being about more than just dance. It's about friendships and kindness and learning teamwork. Success is not measured by how many trophies that you may win at competitions but how you learn to work as a team and strive to put emotion in each and every move of our dances. You will be wearing masks for the line dance and the judges will not be able to see the expression in your eyes. You will have to really show alot of expression in your dance to make up the difference. Dance with your heart with every move you make. Live and love every day like it is your last.

Competitions and DeadLines Information

NexStar - Past Due. Please pay these competition fees as soon as possible. We went ahead and paid these fees since it is our national qualifications competition and we wanted to be sure we got into the competition.

Stage One - Due as soon as possible. They will not "guarantee" us a spot if we register later than 30 days out. This puts our pay by date to Stage One on 2/11.


There have been rumors that we are asking for competition fees a month in advance to receive a rebate from the competitions. Unfortunately, we have not been able to take advantage of these discounts due to the number of students with outstanding balances. If we are ever able to take advantage of these savings in the future, we will definitely pass this discount along to the students. And it is usually 35 to 45 days payable to the competitions to receive such discounts. Don't worry we are not making any extra money off of competitions.

We know it's been tough financially with back to back competitions and costumes. We understand it's tough times for everyone. We pray that things will get better for America soon.

We will continue to ask for the competition fees a month in advance to be sure that we get into the competitions that we want to attend. We are sorry if this causes issues with anyone. We do not like to wait to the last minute. We try to be prepared as much as possible and feel this is very important when trying to run a studio with over 200 students.

We will be working on our line dance for the next few Wednesdays instead of the large group. Please arrive to class on time so that we can work as much as possible. We will work on cleaning on large group on Saturdays for the next couple of weeks. Also, plan on attending on Thursdays from 9:00 - 10:00 pm starting this week until we finish the line dance.
